When I sat down to write this song I had no idea of what it was going to be about or what it was going to be called. All I knew was that I wanted a song where the guitar is more interesting and the chorus sounds big enough to carry the whole song.
During all this time, I've been attempting to build a name for myself, I have met so many phenomenally talented artists. They carry themselves so confidently when they're on stage that I can't help but look up to them like siblings.
But this song isn't only about networking. There are a few lines in this song that I have dedicated to my actual brothers and a friend of mine who's been ill recently. They are so good at pushing through the shitist of situations and I wish I could do the same.
I need my brothers and sisters.
lyrics
Brother, you're more to me
You fight a fight that the world cannot see
Where you are right now,
That's where I want to be
I'm just sat by the sea
I think I'll go and hide in a tree
It doesn't come to me that easily
Facing fears is one thing
But to fight them every week
Brother, you're bursting at the seems
You've got to hold me down
And throw me away
Cause I don't want to be famous today
You've got to write on me
All of my sins
In all my favourite colours
And teach me how to win
I'll grab a bud and sit next to you today
Maybe grab some conversation space
But you're so in the clouds
With everything you say
Brother, just listen to me
Cause every time I breathe I start to fall asleep
Just a little bit more
And every time I blink I start to think and then I fuck it up a little bit more
You've got to hold me down
And throw me away
Cause I don't want to be famous today
You've got to write on me
All of my sins
In all my favourite colours
To teach me how to win
I am just another animal
I take a bite before my mighty fall
I stand tall like a bear
But I need friends like a wolf
Brother, I will not let you fall
Long times staring out into the sea
There's nothing at the bottom of this bottle but me
I seem so cavalier
But I'm mesmerized by monkeys
Brother, you're more to me
You've got to hold me down
And throw me away
Cause I don't want to be famous today
You've got to write on me
All of my sins
In all my favourite colours
And teach me how to win
Brother, you're more to me
Brother, you're more to me
Brother, you're more to me
Brother, you're more to me
