about

I came up with the chords and the lyrics to this song all in one day. I thought it had been a while since I'd written a light hearted, easy to listen to love song. The title of the track, I came up with long before and I was just going to write a song about love from a sort of scientific point of view. instead I went with the idea of "It doesn't matter if we're not watching the sunrise together, somebody else gets to see it, and as long as I'm with you, I'm happy."

lyrics

Are you there?
Watching me fall
Into your arms
Just like I hoped you would
Just like I hoped you would

We’ve come so far
In such short space of time
And I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve tried to rhyme your name
Into this song
I’ll scream it out loud
And a symphony will blare
Because you’re what this song is all about

So hold my hand
It’s always summer somewhere
And I’ll thank life that I’m so lucky to be given this day
To hold your hand
With my opposable thumb
And the sun it rises somewhere
And my tongue has got so numb

Because we’ve talked
All through the day
Your hands have got so cold tonight
But I’ll warm them up
Easily

The earth spins around
And so does the moon
My blood pumps through my arteries
As I sit next to you

And we’ll sit
And we’ll talk
We’ll exchange funny stories and I’ll love you even more

But you deserve a band
To carry this song forth
But it’s just me and my guitar
Just like it's always been before

So hold my hand
It’s always summer somewhere
And I’ll thank life that I’m so lucky to be given this day
To can hold your hand
With my opposable thumb
And as the sun it rises somewhere
And my tongue has got so numb

Because we've talked
Into the night
Your hands have got so cold
But I can warm them up
Just right
